With a portfolio of sample photographs of my work in hand, I will arrive at your house. I will carefully listen to you describe your project and get a good understanding of what you would like to achieve. We can then review my portfolio of example ideas and select colors from the color samples that I will provide or use colors that you have already picked out. This discussion usually takes about an hour, at the end of which I can give you a written quotation.
You might consider allowing me to create a sample board (24” x 36”) based on the ideas we have discussed. Faux finishes are beautiful in part from the interaction of color and the light in a room. A sample board lets you see how the colors will change in different lighting conditions from day to night; sunny to rainy. I can “fine tune” the boards so they look great in all lighting scenarios. When we get the perfect board, I duplicate it on your walls.
The cost per sample board is $75.00 but there is no charge for the first sample board if I get hired to do the job.
The mural process works in a similar way. We discuss different ideas using books, artwork, magazines, etc. When we decide together on a theme, I draw the image on your walls with chalk. At this stage, we can easily erase or make changes as needed. Once we achieve the look that you like, I apply the paint by working with the colors in the room. For murals I charge an hourly rate that includes the cost of materials.
All of the faux finishes and art work is performed solely by myself. I work very closely with my clients to make sure you get exactly the look you are after. I use quality materials; Benjamin Moore Paints, Aqua Effects, and Faux Effects Products and professional grade painters’ tarps. I mix my own glazes using Golden Acrylic Pigments and quality glaze mediums. Because I care about our environment and the health of the people living in your house, I use only water-based products.
